It’s only fitting that our blog highlight all the hippie quotes that we love and adore. While the hippies that we consider ourselves to be are hippies of peace, happiness, and love, we can’t forget about the hippie movement of the past as well.
Throughout our life on Earth, one thing has been evidently clear to us as a family. If you can love big, be open, and trust in the power of good, the world truly is an oyster that is waiting to be explored.
Our “hippie vibe” is more of a way of thinking…teaching our girls to follow the “Golden Rule” (treat others as you’d want to be treated) and to love big with all your heart. While we have street smarts about where we travel and what we do, we also feel that there is more good out there than evil.
Our free-spirited ways love camping, nature, and running barefoot through the yard…and it’s no joke that you can find us biking around town way more often than filling up our cars with gas. Doing what we can to preserve the Earth for future generations is always on our minds as well.
This post is proof that being a “hippie” isn’t a bad thing. It’s actually something that we proudly say. (and even if you are a hippie from the Woodstock Era, more power to ya!) We all live one life, one beautiful life. I choose to live each day to the fullest rather than settle for what “the man” says I have to do.
And in fact, that whole mentality is what got us started on this blogging journey in the first place. To us, hippie means happy. Hippie means peace. Hippie means minimalistic. Hippie means earth-friendly. Hippie means fun. And hippie means that we surround ourselves with the beautiful chaos and simplicity of life.
How can I be a hippie?
While I wish there was a manual, there isn’t. Being a hippie is a mentality or a way of life. You have to be able to go with the flow and find peace. Keep a calm mind and find a way to find the best in everyone around you.
What are some hippie words?
Believe it or not, there are other hippie words that you can use to mean the same thing as “hippie”. These include:
- freethinker
- gypsies
- Bohemian
- free spirit
- Earth child
And these are just a few. (some of the terms are a lot less positive as well)
What is a modern day hippie?
It’s hard to believe that people are qualified as “modern day” but they are. Hippies nowadays are different from the hippies back then and it’s often quite obvious anymore to pick them out of a crowd. Free spirits today tend to have longer hair or dreds, wear tie-dye, travel around in vans, play guitars, and have a love for incense or essential oils. (Totally stereotyping here but these things are often what is associated)
What is hippie short for?
While I don’t know if there is really any truth to it or not, I’ve read that the word hippie is actually an acronym for:
H – Helper
I – In
P – Promoting
P – Peaceful
I – Individual
E – Existence
I don’t know about you, but I like the sound of that.
Now that you know a little about the history of the people, let’s dive into some of the quotes.
These hippie quotes are perfect for showcasing many things that we feel and believe as well.
