Many people tend to think of the center of the US as a “flyover” country. You know…those states where you hop on the plane in wherever you are located and “flyover” the middle of the country to get to your next destination. And while it has a cute ring to it, it couldn’t be further from the truth. There are so many amazing family-friendly activities to be found in Kansas City, Kansas, that if you tend to overlook all the beauty and activities that it has to offer, you are truly missing out. I was fortunate enough to spend an amazing weekend there and I can’t wait to go back. While I was a guest of the Kansas City Kansas Convention & Visitors Bureau during my trip, all thoughts and opinions are 100% my own.

Kansas City, Kansas – There’s no place like home
From the moment I arrived at the Homewood Suites by Hilton in Kansas City, Kansas, I felt like I was home. From my previous posts about my hospitality and hotel/restaurant background, you guys know I’m a stickler for hotels being clean, right? The Homewood Suites by Hilton does not disappoint. The rooms are gorgeous and clean, there are full kitchens in each and every room, and I loved just how spacy they truly were. I was able to sit at the desk and get some work done, while still having a full view of the room as well. And I have to admit…I loved the color scheme of the hotel. White with grays mixed throughout the room had me feeling calm and relaxed the moment that I opened the door. Even bigger bonus? The WiFi worked, and worked well! That is a huge perk to me when I’m traveling. I write for a living so having the internet is key, and I never experienced any issues whatsoever. If you are looking for a great hotel in the Kansas City, Kansas area, this one is top-notch. It’s a brand new location that has just been opened recently and it’s absolutely gorgeous.
Kansas City, Kansas – Take me out to the Ball Game
I love baseball. Maybe it’s because I used to play a bit of softball back in my day, or maybe I just truly love the athletic ability of each and every player on the field, but to me watching a game of baseball while cheering from the stands sounds like the perfect way to spend a Saturday night. And on our agenda? A T-Bones game! Kansas City, Kansas, is home to the Kansas City T-Bones, and I was beyond excited to get to watch them play. I was able to take a tour of the field and see it up close and personal. Plus, I was able to get some snuggle time in with the T-Bones Mascot, Sizzle!

If you are looking for an extremely family-friendly baseball venue that is packed full of activities for everyone, then getting tickets to the T-Bones game is a must. Between every inning, they do fun activities and games that anyone from the crowd can sign up for. I actually competed in the trike races! I lost, but had a blast giving it my all!
T-Bone Stadium – Not a bad seat in the house
The atmosphere is electric in the T-Bone Stadium. During my tour of the stadium, I was fortunate enough to be able to go right down in the field and interact with members of the team and met some amazing employees of the stadium as well. When I was down on the field looking up into the stands, it was evident that every single person had a clear view of the entire field. With 4,800 seats available (plus more in standing areas), it’s a great stadium to truly feel as though you are part of the action. During my visit, I was able to enjoy a seat from one of the many suites that they offer and the view was perfect.

Kansas City, Kansas T-Bones – 100% Family-Friendly
Not only does the stadium have the playground that is perfect for kids to roam and explore, but they also have a concession area that is just for the kids! Packed full of kid-friendly food choices that any kid would love, plus the counter where they order is the perfect height as well! And just when you think that taking the family to a Kansas City T-Bones game couldn’t get any better, the stadium offers free parking as well for each and every game. Affordable tickets and no extra parking costs? Sounds like a winning combo each and every time.

One other aspect of the T-Bones game that I loved was that every Saturday night, at the end of the game they shoot off fireworks. And not just a few…like a 4th of July celebration. It’s obvious that Kansas City, Kansas, is proud of their T-Bones team and players, as they should be!
If you are looking for a family-friendly vacation that won’t break the bank, take a trip to Kansas City, Kansas and take in a T-Bones game or two.
