Simple Donut Recipe – Acorn Donut Holes

Eek! I just love these cute little donut holes. Have you seriously seen ANYTHING cuter? (don’t include newborn babies in that comparison, of course)

But the best part about this delicious treat is that it’s crazy simple. (like, seriously crazy) No cooking required, at all. Zero. And within minutes, you’ve got acorn donut holes that everyone will be raving over.

This recipe LOOKS like it takes effort, but it honestly really doesn’t. Round up your kiddos and let them have a blast creating their own “acorns” as well! Have the fun of making these cute little treats so that you can then enjoy popping them in your mouth one by one.

Perfect for Fall parties, fun breakfast ideas or as a sweet treat for family and friends, you’ll love the ease, taste and look of these adorable donut holes! There’s never a better time than now to give this simple donut recipe a try!

INGREDIENTS TO MAKE ACORN DONUT HOLES

  • Doughnut Holes
  • Milk chocolate morsels or chocolate almond bark (about ½ cup for every 6-8 Doughnut Holes)
  • Chocolate jimmies/sprinkles
  • Pretzel sticks

HOW TO MAKE THIS SIMPLE DONUT RECIPE

  1. Prepare a plate or baking sheet with waxed paper.
  2. Cut each pretzel stick into six pieces. These are the stems.
  3. In the microwave, melt the milk chocolate morsels in a small microwave-safe bowl on high in 30-second increments, stirring well between each cycle and giving special care not to overheat the candy. If the chocolate is overheated or comes in contact with water, it will seize up and be unusable.
  4. Dip the cut end of the Doughnut Holes into the melted chocolate to coat about ¼ inch of the donut. Immediately dip in chocolate jimmies.
  5. Place a piece of pretzel stick into the middle of the doughnut side you dipped. You may need to shift the jimmies slightly to make space.
  6. Put the acorn cookie on the waxed paper. When all doughnuts are dipped and decorated, place them in the refrigerator or freezer until the chocolate is set.

Store in an airtight container at room temperature.
