Halloween Donuts – Spooky Good To The Last Bite
I love Halloween. Literally, everything about it makes me happy. The costumes, the candy, the ability to dress up and not have other adults stare at you wondering what is going on…Halloween is seriously the best. What I love most about Halloween? The awesome Halloween snacks and treats!
Being able to munch down on some spooky food that has a stellar taste? Totally awesome. My latest Halloween treat love? These adorable Halloween donuts. Now…I’m gonna let you in on a little secret here. These donuts are so simple, there’s literally no baking required. AT ALL.
The secret? These donuts for Halloween are actually made using…Rice Krispie Treats! How fun is that? Talk about a “trick” that ends up being a delicious “treat”!
With just a few simple ingredients, these Halloween donuts will seriously take no time at all, and everyone in your family will be in love! What are you waiting for? You might as well make a few practice batches before the “real” deal, right?
INGREDIENTS TO MAKE HALLOWEEN DONUTS
- 2 3/4 C Rice Krispies cereal
- 12 Large marshmallows
- 1 ½ tbsp butter
- Tub of vanilla icing
- Green gel food coloring
- Black gel food coloring
- Purple gel food coloring
- Halloween spider/bug sprinkles
How to Make Halloween Donuts
Melt butter and marshmallows over low heat in a pot.
Add cereal.
Once combined, add green food coloring and mix around. (This will give a marbled effect. If you want one solid color, add the food coloring to the melted marshmallows before you add the cereal.)
Press into a non-stick mini donut pan. (Use a piece of waxed paper or lightly buttered hands.)
Let them sit for about 10 min or until cooled.
While they are setting, divide icing into two bowls and color with black and purple food coloring.
Flip “donuts” out of pan and frost.
Top with bug sprinkles.
