Oreo Bats – Easy Halloween Snack For Kids
If your kids are like mine, they love sweets. I try to do the good mom thing and limit them throughout the week, but during times like holidays, I tend to loosen up a bit on the sugar monitoring.
I’m a sucker for anything adorable that can be eaten. Seriously. Once I discovered this simple Halloween recipe, I knew this was going to be a home run in my house. These Oreo Bats are delicious, and your kids are certain to go “batty” over them. (Ha, see what I did there?)
The best part? They are crazy simple. Like unbelievably easy. It’s an easy Halloween snack that only takes 4 ingredients to make. How is that not a win?
Plus, it’s fun to make as well. I love having help in the kitchen so when my kiddos want to dive in and help make these bat Oreos, I am absolutely fine with that!
Have fun with these Halloween treats this year! They are too cute not to make!
INGREDIENTS TO MAKE OREO BATS
- Oreo Sandwich Cookies
- Brown candy coating or chocolate almond bark
- Candy eyeballs (I used these.)
- Candy corn
NOTE: If you cannot find candy eyeballs, you can substitute with mini Oreo cookies and chocolate chips.
How to make Oreo Bats
- Melt the candy coating according to package directions giving special care not to overheat the candy. If the candy coating is overheated, it will be too thick. You can add 2 teaspoons of vegetable shortening to help thin the candy but do not add any other type of liquid as the candy will seize and harden.
- Carefully remove the chocolate wafers from the cream center. Cut a chocolate wafer in half to use as wings. Set aside.
- Resting a whole chocolate wafer cookie on a fork, spoon candy coating over the cookie and then tap the fork against the side of your bowl to remove excess candy coating.
- Insert two candy eyeballs for eyes and candy corn for the beak.

- Place a drop of candy coating on the tip of the cut chocolate wafer and attach to one side of the back of the cookie. Repeat towards to other side of the back to add the second “wing.”

- Allow candy coating to harden before serving.
Store in an airtight container at room temperature. Placing in the refrigerator may cause the cookie to soften.
